This webpage is mainly created to provide info on my projects and give hints how to contact me. Thank you for coming, feel yourself at home, but please don't expect much from this site.
The following facts are valid at the time of the writing. Birth date: February 9th, 1974. Married. Yes, I finally started blogging just like (almost) everyone. Better late than never. I don't know whether I'll be able to keep updating it regularily, but so far I like it. The blog is a mess of absolutely unrelated postings, but who cares?
This was my fist project on the web. Staying in the U.S. for a year and having faced the system of measurements that was not metric I needed an easy way to convert from punds to grams and from degrees Fahrenheit to degrees Celsius. So in 1995 I made the first version of Measurement Translator (that was the name of the project when it was started). After returning home I continued to support and develop the project. My wife Anna helped me a lot. We both continue to work on improving the site when we have time.
If you have ideas on improving Weights and Measures Conversion further, please let us know by posting your suggestion on the forum
This is not a standalone project. The idea came when I got another complain about banner ads we run on Convert-Me.Com. I don't like banners myself, but we run them on our site as they give the revenue allowing us to pay for hosting, etc. So banners are inevitable and most people can live with them. Unfortunately some people hate banners so much, they can't help complaining. How can we help these people? We'll allow them to turn off the banners.
We implemented the feature that allowed everyone to turn off the banners. We were afraid most people would disable them and we would lost all the revenue. In fact, only few visitors used the provided option. So now everyone is happy. We continue to get the revenue and those who can't live with banners have a chance to turn them off.
After returning to Russia in 1995 I started to work for Ural Relcom (now acquired by Golden Telecom) I immediately created my own homepage. Besides personal information it used to contain so called First Russian Nerdity test, a couple of math games, and the measurement converter. Now most content of that page has been removed because I had no time to keep updating it. The page is still hosted by the company I no longer work for, so there is a chance the page will die someday.
There are two pretty successful web projects that I took part in development. Both sites are in Russian, but I provide links here nevertheless. The first one is Ekaterinburg Online, the most visited site in Ekaterinburg. It was started in 1996 by Alex Pinzhenin and me while working for Ural Relcom. The second project is UralWeb, that I started in 1997 in UralRelcom. This project now belongs to Kabinet company.
I get too much of spam and try to fight it. That's why I don't publish my email address for spam crawlers to grasp. You can email me by typing my first name, @ sign, my last name and '.net' trailer.
